Relieving Stress Amidst a Pandemic

As we all know, 2020 has bestowed quite a shocker to us all. A virus that changed our daily lives and left us imprisoned within four walls, yet it doesn’t have to be a prison; it can be a place of growth. With all of this craziness, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by worrying about the future, feeling restless with the long hours inside, etc but all this stress takes a toll on our mental health which is why it is so important to find ways to relax.

Here are some suggestions:

  1. Develop new hobbies or give old hobbies another try!

  2. Read something (I recently read The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, and I definitely recommend it!)

  3. Clean up/ organize your room (No matter how hectic your day has been, coming back to a organized room will provide you the space to relax.)

  4. Take a walk (With a face mask of course!)

  5. Call/ text a friend/ family (Chances are, they’re hoping to hear a familiar voice.)

  6. Watch a movie

  7. Learn a new language

  8. Learn to cook a new dish

  9. Turn off your phone and reflect/ breath (I know it sounds utterly terrible, but high screen times can actually stress you out, and your eyes could use a break!)

  10. Exercise/ stretch (It doesn’t need to be hardcore, just try to get some movement going.)

Remember to:

  1. Eat all your meals (and obviously snacks, but try to go for healthier options)

  2. Stay hydrated

  3. Get enough sleep

Best of luck and stay safe!
